Stanford University researchers have found out that PTZ can help in improving the learning and memory of mice labs suffering from Down syndrome. Researchers discovered that a daily dose of PTZ drug enabled the Down syndrome mice to recognize objects and even navigate mazes just like a normal mice. Even after the discontinuation of the drugs the improvements lasted for up till two months. The researchers are satisfied with these findings and the researchers plan to conduct some more preliminary studies so that human trials could be carried out. Let me tell you that one of the major causes of mental retardation is the Down syndrome and it is caused due to an extra copy of chromosome 21. This is being regarded as a significant development which could help in controlling cases of mental retardation.
