The time ahead is quite tough. Come 2025 and there would be two billion mouths which would have to be fed and for this purpose the food production would have to be doubled over the next twenty five years to feed them. There is a need to bring biotechnology out of the labs and apply it to our lands. Though a lot of time is involved in nurturing this technology but it has got a huge potential to feed those hungry mouths. Biotechnology certainly holds the key for solving the problem of malnutrition.
Biotic stress can be controlled with biotechnology and it can also produce food which is not hazardous. It has been found out that nutrition can be preserved with it and Omega-3 can be conserved which is responsible for a healthy heart. It can not only cure problems of drought and salinity but also lessen the usage of pesticides on crops.
Time has come when we should start implementing biotechnology or get ready to face deaths due to hunger.
