It is quite alarming to know that livestock breeds worldwide are depleting and around one fifth of them face extinction. In the last fifteen years around one hundred and ninety breeds have vanished and around fifteen hundred more are moving towards extinction. The extinction is being denoted to the agricultural practices which are centered around profitable breeds and other breeds are being neglected. This is causing the gene pool to shrink and hence threatening the global food security. It is connected to cloning in the sense that high tech practice would make matter worse if not better. The problem being visualized with genetically engineered crops is that they can transfer new traits to other plants which could have bad consequences and affect human health too. It is expected that engineered foods would narrow the diversity of food sources and hence make them vulnerable to diseases.
