Up till now there was a general opinion that Cuba was misusing biotechnology but this is far from true as Cuba has been utilizing biotechnology for the welfare of the mankind. In fact it has been using for fighting diseases and developing the country. Up till now thirty eight of its products have been found out to be effective and have already been commercialized in over forty five countries.
Even former US president Jimmy Carter stated that the country was using biotechnology for the betterment of the people. The country is also credited with creation of penta valent vaccine which offers protection against five preventable diseases and is being used in third world nations.
Its scientists are also working on vaccines for cancer and Hepatitis C and it shows the commitment of the country towards ensuring the welfare of not only its own people but also the population of third world nations.
