Finnish and European Tobacco Policy, a new book by the Finnish Cancer Organisations has made a shocking revelation that Finnish smokers were unknowingly used by the international tobacco industry for testing of GM tobacco during the 90′s. It was also stated that several attempts were made for increasing the amount of tobacco by means of selective breeding. Also there were attempts for increasing the free form of nicotine, which has a very quick effect on the brain and it also, results in stronger addiction. Despite all these revelations GM tobacco still continues to be used as a raw material in cigarettes and is playing with the health of hundreds of smokers. It seems that the tobacco lobby is very strong and it has been misusing biotechnology and the Finnish government stands mute till now.
